In October 2019, amidst the vibrant atmosphere of San Francisco's Fleet Week, fate brought Jason and Caroline together at a boat party, miles away from their respective homes in Washington, DC, and Chicago, IL. While visiting their friends, Greg Sydor and Katarina Espencheid, who would later become the best man and a bridesmaid, an instant connection sparked between them, but both assumed it just a fleeting romance once they headed home. Just a mere 48 hours later fate strikes again when Caroline has to fill in for a colleague on a work trip to none other than DC. Initially resistant to even text Jason, a few cocktails at a happy hour later and the "feeler" text was sent. Caroline showed up to meet Jason and a few of his friends out for the Nationals World Series Game 1. The connection was immediately reprised. After meeting up each night that week, Jason convinced Caroline to extend her work trip and spend the weekend. They haven't left each other since. From dating long distance from Chicago to DC, to living at their parent's homes once the pandemic hit, to battles about how they would make the long distance work, Caroline finally moved to DC (for a job "promotion") to be with Jason in the Summer of 2020. Less than a year later, Jason and Caroline decided their calling together was out west and packed up a U-Haul and drove the 1,700 miles across the country to Denver. They are fortunate to have overcome these hurdles to be together and the past few years have been filled with a lifetime of memories, laughs, journeys, friendships and love. Finally on April 7, 2023, the first true spring day in Colorado, Jason and Caroline went on one of their favorite hikes in Boulder - Rattlesnake Gulch where Jason popped the question overlooking the Continental Divide. We feel so lucky that our relationship has opened us to new places, faces, and especially new family over the years. We look forward to our wedding celebration being surrounded by our closest friends and family. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
